The potential presence of glass or metal fragments has led to the recall of two items sold at national grocery chains: Trader Joe’s frozen chicken fried rice and Aldi’s frozen meatballs , according to announcements posted on the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).e60dc2a1-f33c-4a05-9b50-8e3e8e597629a88d1031-e863-445b-abcd-e5a0b71f00fae60dc2a1-f33c-4a05-9b50-8e3e8e597629e473cca0-3ee6-415f-afaa-dd5d979b6c56 The food supplier Ajinomoto Foods North America recalled over three million pounds (lb) of frozen chicken fried rice after four customers reported finding glass pieces , including the following item sold at Trader Joe’s locations nationwide: 20-ounce (oz) plastic bag packages containing frozen “Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with stir fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs,” with Best By dates 9/8/2026 through 11/17/2026 In a separate announcement, Rosina Food Products recalled more than 9,000 lb of the following frozen meatballs sold at Aldi’s supermarkets nationwide, after a customer reported finding metal fragments. 32 oz plastic bag packages of fully cooked frozen “Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs,” with the Best By date 10/30/26 and the timestamps 17:08 through 18:20 printed on the back of the package. There have been no reports of injury connected to either recall. But both recalls are listed on the FSIS website as Class I events, meaning “there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”e60dc2a1-f33c-4a05-9b50-8e3e8e5976296a79db9e-449c-46aa-9d25-7420c2a84c25 FSIS is concerned customers may still have these items in their freezers.
